Boniface’s Werder loan could be cut short as surgery decision nears

Victor Boniface could see his Werder Bremen loan end early.

Werder Bremen are expecting a decision from Victor Boniface before the end of the year on whether he will undergo knee surgery, according to Deichstube.

As per the report, doctors at both Werder and Bayer 04 are now recommending surgery due to his ongoing knee problems. 

If the 25-year-old striker chooses to have the operation, he could miss the remainder of the season, making an early termination of his loan from Bayer Leverkusen likely.

Leverkusen reportedly already advised the striker to undergo knee surgery in the summer, but he declined.

A proposed move to AC Milan later fell through before Werder decided to take a chance on him – without success.

Boniface has made just 11 appearances for the Green-Whites, starting only twice and failing to score.
