Gladbach
After enduring a difficult start to the season, Gladbach are now heading in the right direction following a positive run of results in the Bundesliga. Eugen Polanski’s side have dropped just two points in five league games since falling to a 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich on October 25.
Die Fohlen recorded three consecutive wins over St. Pauli, Köln and Heidenheim, before they played out a goalless draw with second-placed RB Leipzig. Gladbach may have been knocked out the DFB-Pokal by St.Pauli, but they quickly returned to winning ways in their most recent league outing against Mainz. A Danny da Costa own goal proved enough to hand Gladbach a 1-0 win, representing their third consecutive away win without conceding.
The 10th-placed side still have room to improve at Borussia-Park, having won just one of their seven Bundesliga home games this season (D3, L3). They will be keen to make a fast start on Saturday, considering they have scored just one league goal in the opening 45 minutes at home this season.
Team News
Gladbach are unable to call upon the services of Robin Hack, Jan Urbich, Fabio Chiarodia, Nathan Ngoumou, Florian Neuhaus, Tim Kleindienst and Franck Honorat. Meanwhile, Joe Scally is set to serve a one-match ban for an accumulation of yellow cards.
Predicted lineup: Nicolas; Sander, Elvedi, Diks; Castrop, Reitz, Engelhardt, Reyna, Netz; Machino Tabaković
Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg should head into the weekend with renewed belief after ending their four-game winless league run with a successful home outing against Union Berlin. Patrick Wimmer, Mohamed Amoura and Lovro Majer all got on the scoresheet in a 3-1 victory, representing their first home league win since thrashing Gladbach 5-1 in January.
Die Wölfe know they need to put together a positive run of results if they are to alleviate their relegation fears. As it stands, they are languishing in 15th spot, with just one point separating them from Heidenheim in the relegation playoff position.
Wolfsburg will now head on their travels on the back of a poor run of away form that has seen them win just one of their previous five road trips (D1, L3). They can at least take confidence from the fact that they picked up a narrow 1-0 win in their most recent away meeting with Gladbach in May. That result ended their six-year wait for a Bundesliga victory at Borussia-Park.
Team News
Wolfsburg remain without Rogério, Joakim Mæhle, Bence Dárdai, Kevin Paredes, Moritz Jenz, Adam Daghim and Jonas Wind. Attacker Andreas Skov Olsen has also joined Wolfsburg’s injury list ahead of Saturday’s away trip.
Predicted lineup: Grabara; Kumbedi, Seelt, Koulierakis, Zehnter; Gerhadt, Arnold; Eriksen, Majer, Wimmer; Amoura
