Bove ‘talking to AS Roma’ and Eriksen: ‘I’m not ruling anything out’

Edoardo Bove keeps undergoing medical tests, but has a ‘huge desire’ to play football again and is talking to his club Roma as well as Christian Eriksen.

Bove hopes to resume his playing career in the coming months, but the Italian midfielder is still undergoing examinations after suffering a heart attack on the pitch in December 2024.

“The visits must have been more than ten. Many of them are just routine checkups, electrocardiogram, stress tests, blood pressure holter, as well as arrhythmology and electrophysiological studies,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“I’m prepared. The doctors are understandably being very cautious. It still takes a bit of time, but I feel the circle is closing.”

The incident occurred during a Serie A match between Inter and Fiorentina at the Stadio Franchi last season. Bove was a Fiorentina player on loan from Roma and has now returned to the Stadio Olimpico.

Bove: Doctors ‘haven’t reached a conclusion yet’

“We’re talking to Roma. I’m under contract until June 2028. It’s still a long way to go,” he said.

“I’m not ruling anything out. The doctors haven’t reached a conclusion yet. I might even be fine, don’t you think? I’m fully aware of the situation, I feel great and I have a huge desire to return to my passion.”

Former Inter and Tottenham star Eriksen had also suffered a heart attack on the pitch a few years earlier, during Euro 2020, and the Denmark international, now at VfL Wolfsburg, is keeping in touch with Bove.

“More than once. In the early days and even in the summer,” the Italian said.

“We have something in common, even if we don’t know each other personally. I feel close to him and I’m glad he’s found another team.”

Bove has had surgery to implant a removable heart starter device, which, under the current regulations, makes him ineligible to play in Serie A.

The 23-year-old has now returned to the capital, but no longer watches much football.

“Only Fiorentina’s and Roma’s, the others bother me,” he admitted.

“Even my father watches less football now, despite being very passionate. I think it’s a natural reaction. For me, especially at the beginning, it wasn’t as hard as it was for my parents. I didn’t understand how serious the situation was, I thought I had simply fainted. On the other hand, they knew they had risked losing a son.”
