There are growing reports that Real Madrid will fire Carlo Ancelotti before the end of the season, so Brazil intensify their attempts to hire him.

The coach knew that despite his extraordinary record in two different spells on the bench, the failure to win the Champions League or LaLiga this season would doom him to dismissal.

The method of their elimination to Arsenal was particularly damning, losing 3-0 away from home and 2-1 at the Bernabeu in the Champions League quarter-final.

According to various Spanish sources this evening, including Relevo, some Real Madrid players complained to President Florentino Perez about Ancelotti, prompting the club to make a change before the end of the season.

They are expected to wait until the Copa del Rey Final against Barcelona on April 26, even though the result of that will be irrelevant.

Brazil are keeping a close eye on the situation, knowing full well that Ancelotti would not leave Real Madrid willingly, but could be convinced to take the Selecao job if he is a free agent first.

They hope to hire the Italian in time for their 2026 World Cup qualifiers this summer.
