Hoffenheim attacker Jacob Bruun Larsen wasn’t in much of celebratory mood even after his dramatic late equalizer helped his team nick a draw off Dortmund last night. The 26-year-old – not exactly a stranger to adversity at this stage of his professional career – kept it subdued after notching the 1-1 at 90+1. The former Danish international joined the BVB youth ranks in 2015 and remained with the Westphalian club for five years.

“Everyone who knows me knows what this club means to me and my family,” Bruun Larsen noted in the mixed zone last night, ”BVB supported me during a difficult time when I was younger. Dortmund believed in me and signed me to a professional contract when I was injured. [Former] sporting director Michael Zorc even visited me in the hospital.”

Bruun Larsen didn’t react much when teammates Alexander Prass and Stanley approached him to deliver congratulations. In this particular case, Bruun Larsen’s “emotional reaction” was to show as little emotion as possible. The TSG winger went into still further depth when explaining this in his post-match comments.

“We did deserve a point,” said Bruun Larsen, “but scoring for the first time as an opponent in this stadium is something I’ll never forget.”
