Sky report that Sandro Wagner is on the list of TSG Hoffenheim to replace Christian Ilzer for next season. Wagner will stay as Germany’s assistant coach until the end of this summer’s UEFA Nations League closing stage.
With only four rounds left in the league season, Hoffenheim are yet to secure their league status for the next campaign. The Sinsheim club fired Pellegrino Matarazzo earlier this season, but Ilzer’s arrival didn’t bring the desired outcome.
Sky also noted Bayer Leverkusen expressed their interest in replacing the sought-after Xabi Alonso with Wagner. Regionalliga side Unterhaching is the only club the 37-year-old previously worked as a head coach.
