Borussia Dortmund and Sébastien Haller are still in talks over an early contract termination including a settlement worth €4 million.
With a reported annual salary of €10 million until his contract expires on June 30th, 2026, Sébastien Haller is one of BVB’s top earners, but no longer plays an important, if any, role in the team.
That’s why club and player have been in talks over an early contract termination ever since Haller came back from his loan from FC Utrecht. According to “BILD” however, these talks have been more complicated than anticipated.
The main disagreement between both parties is connected to the settlement fee: “BILD” reports that Dortmund are willing to pay Haller €2 million – while the striker wants €6 million, which led to a hold in the discussions.
Dortmund have picked up on these talks however, since there is a lack of planning security and the commitment of potential new recruits is blocked, while there is no agreement with the 31-year-old.
Fábio Silva, currently a hot candidate for a transfer to Dortmund, will reportedly only be signed, when an agreement with Haller is achieved.
If Haller leaves Borussia Dortmund this summer, a return to FC Utrecht is his most likely destination. Haller was signed by Dortmund from Ajax in the summer of 2022 for €31 million.
