Wednesday’s reports claim that Juventus will rival Milan and several other clubs across Europe in the summer transfer window for Club Brugge left-back Maxim De Cuyper in the event that Italy international Andrea Cambiaso leaves for Manchester City in a few months’ time.

Cambiaso’s reported move to Manchester was one of the biggest sagas in the Serie A transfer window in January, and though there were reports of an agreement in principle over a €60m fee, City turned their attention to other targets, such as the €75m Omar Marmoush and the €60m Nico Gonzalez.

Reports over the last few months claim that a move to the Etihad for Cambiaso is still very much on the cards for the summer.

Juventus to rival Milan for De Cuyper if Cambiaso leaves for Man City

According to reports from Tuttosport, Juventus will turn focus on the signing of De Cuyper from Club Brugge in the event that Cambiaso leaves during the next transfer window.

Milan are also interested in the 24-year-old Belgium international, who has been dubbed a potential heir to Theo Hernandez’s throne on the Rossoneri left flank. The interest in De Cuyper, however, is not just limited to Serie A.

RB Leipzig are also understood to be interested in a deal, as are a collection of unspecified Premier League clubs.

In an ideal world, Juventus would like to get a deal done for De Cuyper in the mini-transfer window that opens before the FIFA Club World Cup in June, but there are a number of factors that make that tricky, as Cambiaso is unlikely to leave before then, while there could also be changes involving the head coach around then.

It is also a similar story for Milan, who are awaiting the appointment of a new sporting director, likely to be Fabio Paratici, and are also expected to change head coaches at the end of the season, too.
