The 25-year-old has admitted that he wanted to leave Anfield this summer, in search of more regular first-team football, and The Sun have revealed that Chelsea are interested in finalising a deal in 2025.

However, the west London giants will not enter talks to sign Kelleher next year, according to GiveMeSport’s Ben Jacobs, who has stated that Enzo Maresca is happy with the current goalkeeper options at Stamford Bridge.

Robert Sanchez has come under immense criticism following several high-profile errors so far this season, but Maresca has insisted that the Spain international will keep his place as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper.

In addition, Filip Jorgensen is also at Stamford Bridge, after his summer move from Villarreal, while Mike Penders will officially join the Blues from KRC Genk in 2025.

The Belgian shot-stopper is viewed as Chelsea’s future first-choice ‘keeper and he is a key reason why Kelleher will not be pursued next year, as per Jacobs.

What has Caoimhin Kelleher said?

In September, while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland, Kelleher told reporters: “I’ve made it clear in the last few years that I want to go and be a No. 1 and play week in, week out.

“The club [Liverpool] has made that decision to get another goalkeeper [Giorgi Mamardashvili], and from the outside looking in, it looks like they’ve made a decision to go in a different direction.

“Sometimes from the outside looking in, it looks like that’s 100% my decision but at times it’s not always in my hands,” Kelleher added.

“My ambition is clear that I think I’m good enough, and I want to go out and prove it.”

Kelleher will have one year remaining on his Liverpool contract when the 2025 summer transfer window opens, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €9.5 million.
