Cardiff City are in talks with Manchester City for Josh Wilson-Esbrand.

The 21-year-old defender has been on loan at Reims this season and has played 13 games in all competitions.

But he is ready to cut short that move to go back to the Championship where he enjoyed a loan spell with Coventry City last season.

Wilson-Esbrand joined the Sky Blues in January last year and went on to make 14 league appearances.

Last season, he also featured for City in the Champions League in the games against FC Copenhagen and Sevilla but is yet to make his Premier League debut.

Cardiff have already won the race to sign Liverpool defender Nat Phillips on loan until the end of the season, beating fellow Championship club Blackburn to his signature.

As confirmed on Tuesday’s It’s All Kicking Off – Transfer Week podcast, Phillips has travelled to the Welsh capital to complete his move after spending the first half of the season on loan at Celtic

The defender failed to gain significant minutes for the Scottish champions and was recalled earlier this month.
