Castello Lukeba believes RB Leipzig “deserved more against Dortmund”

Castello Lukeba believes RB Leipzig desrved more than a point against Borussia Dortmund, but were punished by a lack of ruthlessness.

2-0 up at the break, RB Leipzig looked on course to beat Borussia Dortmund at the weekend, but had to settle for a 2-2 draw after the visitors came back after the break.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba reflected on the game, saying he felt his side deserved to win, but were punished for not putting the game to bed earlier.

“Honestly, we deserved more against Dortmund,” Lukeba said, adding:

“But that’s football. If you play a top team and you’re not ruthless enough, they can come back.”

“In big games, it’s the small things that make the difference,” he stressed.

Lukeba underlined that the team as a whole was responsible for the equaliser, which came five minutes into injury time.

“That last goal is on all of us, because we’re a team. We celebrate together, we lose together.”

Winless in their last three games, Die Roten Bullen are now targeting a return to winning ways against Hamburger SV on Sunday.

“We’re going to Hamburg to win. That’s the goal,” Lukeba said.

“We have to win games. Every match is tough, but we want to get back into the Champions League.”
