Celtic have been handed an unexpected boost in their bid to sign Andrew Robertson this summer following reports that Liverpool are interested in Inter Milan defender Federico Dimarco.
Robertson, 31, is currently set to become a free agent when his contract at Anfield expires in July and he has been heavily linked with an exit in recent months.
Rumours have suggested that Liverpool officials could offer the Scotland international a new deal following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, however several clubs are interested in signing him on a Bosman transfer.
Tottenham Hotspur were eager to sign Robertson during the recent winter transfer window, while Championship side Wrexham have been tipped to pursue the 31-year-old if they are promoted to the Premier League this season.
Celtic are also known admirers of Robertson and the Scottish giants are keen to bring the Liverpool defender back to his homeland ahead of next campaign, despite the presence of fellow left-back Kieran Tierney at Celtic Park.
It has been reported that Robertson would be open to joining Celtic this summer, although a deal may be difficult to finalise if several Premier League clubs join the race for his signature.
However, Martin O’Neill’s side have now been handed an unexpected boost in their bid to sign Robertson following news that Liverpool have added Dimarco to their transfer wishlist for 2026.
Federico Dimarco to join Liverpool?
Liverpool signed Milos Kerkez to become their new first choice left-back last summer and, after a slightly shaky start, the Hungary star has established himself as a key player under Arne Slot.
Despite this, Fichajes claim that Dimarco has been identified as a top target by the Liverpool hierarchy if Robertson departs.
With the Reds already planning for life after the Scotland international, it suggests that a departure could be on the cards and a move to Celtic may therefore be edging closer.
