Celtic winger Luis Palma has confirmed that he would like to join Lech Poznan on a permanent deal when his loan spell expires this summer.
The 26-year-old moved to Celtic Park from Aris Thessaloniki for a fee of €4.75 million in 2023, but he failed to make a meaningful impression in Glasgow and was sent on loan to Olympiacos last February.
Palma subsequently joined Lech Poznan on a season-long loan deal in July, with the transfer including an option to buy clause worth €4.6m. The Polish side reportedly have no intention of paying that figure for a permanent deal, due to limited transfer funds, although the Celtic winger is keen to extend his stay at Niels Frederiksen’s side beyond this season.
Speaking to reporters over the weekend (via The Celtic Way), Palma admitted: “I hope to stay at Lech for a long time. But it’s not just my decision. I’m doing my thing day by day and I’m very happy about it.
“All I can do is keep doing that, but not everything depends on me. I have been a substitute in recent matches and that’s the decision of the manager. But I always have the team’s best interests at heart.
“I am working hard to get my place back in the team. That’s football for you.”
Luis Palma wants to leave Celtic
Palma’s desire to leave Celtic on a permanent deal comes following the Hoops’ decision to bolster their forward line with a number of eye-catching additions during the winter transfer window.
Junior Adamu (Freiburg), Tomas Cvancara (Borussia Monchengladbach) and Joel Mvuka (Lorient) all joined the club on loan, while the Scottish giants also completed the signings of Bournemouth right-back Julian Araujo (loan), Brentford centre-back Benjamin Arthur (loan) and former England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Celtic are expected to be active in the market yet again this summer, with Palma one of several players set to depart the Glasgow outfit.
