Celtic fans should be braced for the summer exit of Benjamin Nygren, with the Glasgow giants’ top scorer set to bring a transfer windfall that board will ‘love’.
Nygren arrived at Celtic in a €1.5 million deal last summer from Nordsjaelland and has been a shining light in a disappointing campaign for the Parkhead club.
The 24-year-old Swede has scored 18 goals and created seven more in 45 appearances across all competitions for the Hoops, making him one of their most marketable assets.
‘Celtic will have no choice but to sell Nygren’
Nygren, whose Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has rocketed to €6.6m off the back of his Parkhead form, is expected to attract suitors from Europe and England at the end of the season.
Celtic, who will likely try to drive up the Swede’s price further given him importance to the squad and the fact that he is under contract until 2029, will have “no choice” but to sell, according to former Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness, who has also worked at Premier League sides Everton and Aston Villa.
“Nygren is certainly a talent, and I think he’s going to be snapped up certainly in the summer,” he told Football Insider. “I think Celtic will have no choice but to let him go at the end of the season.
“He’s not finished yet. I think he will get 20 to 25 goals and that’s enough to get you the big move that you wanted somewhere in Europe or down to England either way.
“I think he’ll get his move and, of course, the Celtic board will love the money coming back into the bank account – and you know they won’t be spending it either!”
Bournemouth, Valencia and Lille among the best options
Nygren has a number of interesting transfer possibilities, according to SciSports’ Career Advice tool, which gives each club a Club Fit score based on a variety of factors from potential development and pitch time to playing style and formation.
In the Premier League, he could hook up with former Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie at Bournemouth, with the Cherries given a Club Fit of 76 for the winger.

| Club | Club Fit |

| Lille | 74 |
| Mallorca | 74 |

Other strong possibilities are Valencia, who have a Club Fit score of 75, Lille (74), where ex-Rangers star Hamza Igamane plays, Nottingham Forest (73) and Porto (73).
There has been no concrete interest in Nygren yet, but this is surely something Celtic will have to deal with in the near future.
