Premier League sides now have more of an idea of their Champions League last-16 opponents following the conclusion of the playoffs. The English top-flight still has six representatives left in the competition heading into the last-16.

Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool are all set for the knockout rounds, having sealed their spot in the next stage automatically. They have been joined by current league leaders Arsenal.

Manchester City and Chelsea were also among the sides to automatically seal their places in the last 16. Meanwhile, Newcastle had a little bit of work to do, having failed to seal a top-eight finish.

But they eventually managed to ease through, having beaten Qarabag 9-2 on aggregate. The draw for the last 16 will take place on Friday morning, as well as discovering their potential route to the final in Budapest.

But with the playoff ties now all concluded, each team can narrow down their potential opponents to two. Mirror Football runs you through the options for each Premier League side.

Chelsea

Chelsea could potentially be matched up with a fellow Premier League side in the form of Newcastle after Eddie Howe’s men eased past Qarabag. Or it could be French opponents for the Blues.

Ligue 1 powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco met in the playoffs, with the former progressing with a dramatic 4-3 aggregate victory.

Newcastle

While Newcastle could face Chelsea on the European stage, an even more difficult draw could lie in wait for the Magpies in the form of Barcelona.

The Spanish champions also automatically booked their spot in the next round, having finished fifth in the league stage.

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s side already knew that Bayer Leverkusen could lie in wait for them heading into the last 16. And that draw would see Kai Havertz and Piero Hincapie take on their former side.

But that’s not the only option for the North London side. Atalanta are also their potential opponents after the Italian side beat Borussia Dortmund in the playoffs with a stunning comeback.

Manchester City

City will be paired with two sides they faced in the group phase. On paper, a tie against Bodo/Glimt seems hugely preferable to one against Real Madrid.

But Bodo had the better of Pep Guardiola’s men in the Arctic Circle, while City ran out winners over a struggling Real side at the Bernabeu. The Norwegians were also much more impressive in the playoff phase, handily beating Inter, while Los Blancos laboured to overcome Benfica.

Liverpool

Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool will be aiming to add to the six European titles that they have already won. But they face a difficult last-16 draw.

The Reds have been drawn to face either Atletico Madrid, who thumped Club Brugge on their way into the knockouts. Arne Slot’s side could also potentially face Galatasaray after the Turkish side found a way past Juventus after a thrilling tie which went to extra time in Turin.

Tottenham

Igor Tudor’s side have an identical draw to Liverpool, with Atletico Madrid potentially lying in wait. Galatasaray are also potential opponents for the North London side.
