Champions League VILLAIN told to GET OUT! Premier League giants ready to move

Rafael Toloi might have gone viral for his on-field meltdown with Atalanta but the big villain from Tuesday’s Champions League action was AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez.

The France international was sent-off as the Rossoneri were surprisingly dumped out of the competition by Feyenoord following a 1-1 draw at San Siro. The second half was only six minutes old when he saw his second yellow card, with Milan leading 1-0 on the night and were level with the Dutch side on aggregate.

Thereafter, the Eredivisie side needed just one shot on target – the only one they had all night – to get the draw that sent them spinning through and left Milan to take drastic action over Hernandez.

Gazzetta dello Sport indicates that they have already decided to dump the left-back this summer. They previously tried to in January but a €40 million deal with Como broke down as the 27-year-old rejected the move.

“What remains of Theo’s 2024/25 season is what he does off the pitch – improbable hair colours, Instagram stories with dubious content – and, sadder still, what he does on the pitch,” it says.

“The hair is washed and the stories on social networks fade away, but the Champions League has flown away forever, with his two yellow cards as wings.”

Throughout all this, Theo Hernandez continues to have value to big clubs. Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and PSG have all been linked with the left-back, who can also play as a centre-back.

Under contract until 2026, his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) sits at €46.4m, yet this will likely drop as the summer approaches and the final 12 months on his Milan deal near.

Theo Hernandez: A player worth a transfer gamble

Despite the difficulties that Theo currently faces, there could be merit in a major club taking a chance on him. He would, for example, offer much-needed depth at Arsenal or Chelsea, or provide first-team competition at Man Utd as Ruben Amorim begins the laborious rebuild project at Old Trafford.

Data analytics firm SciSports suggests that he could be a worthwhile pickup for any of these clubs, but it ranks Tottenham as his best destination of all.

Spurs get a Club Fit score of 80. This is based on numerous factors including potential development, likely playing time, formation, style and more. Ange Postecoglou’s side come out ahead of PSG (76) and West Ham United (76).

Theo Hernandez’s ideal clubs

Rank Club Club Fit
1 Tottenham 80
2 PSG 76
3 West Ham 75
4 Arsenal 74
5 Newcastle 74
6 Leicester 73
7 Man Utd 70
8 Atalanta 70
9 Everton 70
10 Napoli 70

Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd are all a little further back, each has a score of above 70. City, interestingly, are further back with a score of 67. Hernandez is not thought to be a good fit for Pep Guardiola’s playing style.

For the others, there is merit in them moving for the Frenchman if they can free up the resources and plug other more pressing issues.

Theo, after all, is a highly experienced player as some of Europe’s biggest sides. A winner of the Champions League and Serie A, as well as a World Cup runner-up, this is a man who has done it at the sharp of the game’s biggest competitions and is, therefore, worthy of a gamble after an admittedly difficult campaign.
