Chelsea have added two teenagers to their squad registered with UEFA ahead of tonight’s Conference League last-16 second-leg clash with Copenhagen.
Reggie Walsh, 16, and Genesis Antwi, 17, have trained with the first team at Cobham. If Walsh is included on Enzo Maresca‘s bench and brought on as a substitute, the midfielder would become the club’s second-youngest debutant in history.
The record currently belongs to Ian ‘Chico’ Hamilton, who was 16 years and 138 days old when handed his senior debut in a First Division draw with Tottenham in March 1967. Hamilton scored that day also.
Shim Mheuka, 17, and Harrison Murray-Campbell, 18, are two other Cobham starlets who have trained with Maresca’s main squad ahead of Copenhagen.
They are likewise eligible to be included tonight as have been included in previous Conference League squads such as the December trip to Astana in Kazakhstan.
Clubs can add an unlimited number of players to their B list the night before a match, as long as they are born on or after January 1, 2003 and are eligible.
Chelsea lead Copenhagen 2-1 from last week’s first leg in Denmark.
