Chelsea have reportedly agreed personal terms to sign Arsenal target Jorrel Hato this summer.
The Blues are keen on bolstering their defence ahead of next season, and they have identified Hato as a top target.
Hato has been long on the radar of Premier League rivals Arsenal, but they seem unlikely to make an approach.
The Gunners are about to sign Spanish centre-back Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia to strengthen their central defence instead.
The Blues have now agreed on contract terms with Hato and talks are underway with Ajax to finalise a suitable package.
The 19-year-old is excited by the prospect of playing in the Premier League and has informed his desire to the Dutch giants.
Hato can operate in central defence or as a left-back.
Chelsea are set for a busy end to the summer transfer window and they are also poised to land Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.
Simons has also agreed on personal terms and negotiations are ongoing with Leipzig to finalise a fee for the Dutch forward.
