Chelsea ‘aim high’: €120m offer for ‘remarkable’ Real Madrid star

Chelsea want to make Rodrygo their star summer signing and are ready to launch a €120 million bid for the Real Madrid and Brazil attacker, according to reports.

Enzo Maresca’s side are on course to qualify for the Champions League – assuming they are not banned by UEFA – as they sit fourth in the Premier League table, with the top five now assured of European Cup football following Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid on Tuesday.

With that in mind, there is a desire to strengthen Chelsea’s attacking line and the dream is to bring Rodrygo to Stamford Bridge to have him work with Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea are ready to pay €120 million for the 24-year-old, who would become their second most expensive signing ever behind only Enzo Fernandez.

Vini Jr holds the keys to Rodrygo’s future

Real Madrid’s stance on Rodrygo likely hinges on what the future holds for Vinicius Junior.

Manchester United have been linked with a sensational €200m offer for the Brazil star, and while it is highly unlikely the Old Trafford side can afford such a fee, what is clear is that Real Madrid are growing tired of the behaviour of the Ballon d’Or runner-up.

The Saudi Pro League has been hinted as a likely destination for the player, but even this track is cooling because of the vice president’s resignation in March. He was the figure spearheading the Vini deal.

Rodrygo, meanwhile, has often found himself peripheral this season due to space that his compatriot has taken up in the forward line along with Kylian Mbappe. As a result, his influence on the team has varied wildly and Chelsea are said to be “seeking to capitalise” on this as they ‘aim high’ in the transfer market.

Even if Rodrygo is under contract until 2028, the Blues are said to be “confident” that their substantial financial offer in terms of both transfer fee and contract offer, can ensure a blockbuster deal is brokered.
