Chelsea are keeping tabs on Middlesbrough twins Anton and Bailey Palmer, according to a report.

The Blues are always on the lookout for young prospects and have made it their mission to snap up the world’s most exciting up-and-coming talents since the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital takeover in 2022.

More than €1 billion has been spent on new recruits in that time and a lot of the money has been shelled out on players under the age of 23. Thanks to this new model, Chelsea now boast the youngest squad in the Premier League and there is not a single player older than 27.

This, of course, has also influenced performances on the pitch, with Chelsea struggling to live up to the hype in recent seasons. This term had been much more successful until recently, but the Blues’ players are now once again failing to perform to the required standard.

Nevertheless, there are no signs of a change of course and Chelsea will continue to try and unearth wonderkids.

Chelsea eye Boro twins

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, the latest youngsters to appear on the West London club’s radar are Middlesbrough twins Anton and Bailey Palmer (who are not related to Cole Palmer).

The 16-year-olds have yet to make their senior debut but Bailey has already made a few matchday squads of the Championship side’s senior team. Anton, meanwhile, has been impressing with Boro’s U18s and has made four appearances for England’s U17s.

“Chelsea are interested in Middlesbrough’s teenage twin prospects Bailey and Anton Palmer. The 16-year-olds, both midfielders, are emerging as two of the top prospects within the Teesside club’s highly acclaimed academy,” Bailey told The Chelsea Chronicle.

Should Chelsea firm up their interest, the two would be signings for the academy rather than the first team as they are evidently not yet ready for Premier League football despite their obvious talent.
