Chelsea have failed in their pursuit of one of their top January transfer targets after seeing a bid rejected and being told that the player will not leave this month.
The Blues are continuing their trend of being active in the transfer market by targeting market opportunities for young talents deemed to be below value, while also looking to cash in on their own fringe players.
Chelsea’s multi-club partnership with Strasbourg has seen the club bring in numerous youngsters in recent windows and the BlueCo group were hoping to add another wonderkid in Yeremay, who currently plays for Spanish second tier side Deportivo.

The 22-year-old has been the subject of interest from a number of top division sides across Europe, having enjoyed an impressive season where he has scored eight times in 19 league games.
Chelsea had been pushing hard to sign Yeremay but their latest offer to Deportivo of €15 million has been rejected, with Fabrizio Romano claiming the Spanish side will now keep their star man until the end of the season.
The likes of Dortmund and Napoli were also believed to be interested in the winger but Deportivo now are unlikely to consider further offers below his release clause of €20m.

Deportivo to insist on Yeremay release clause
Yeremay joined Deportivo’s academy as a teenager and has helped the club climb into the Segunda Division after making his debut for the first team in 2021.
Having led Deportivo to the third division title last season, Yeremay signed a new deal until 2030 and is the club’s leading scorer this year, while also attracting praise for his speed and dribbling ability.
After making his debut for Spain’s under-21 side last year, Yeremay would likely have been playing in Strasbourg had BlueCo sealed his signature in order to give the youngster top flight experience.
While there is a possibility Yeremay could still leave Deportivo this month, the Spanish outfit are understood to be willing to proceed with his current release clause as the asking price, meaning any offers will need to be raised to secure the forward’s signing.
