Chelsea will receive a short-term cash boost from Fulham as a result of Armando Broja failing to make the starting XI – and squad – for their Premier League clash against Tottenham on Saturday evening.

Broja completed a last-minute winter loan deal on deadline day which saw him move across West London on a half-season deal.

The two clubs could not agree on a loan fee and instead an agreement was reached whereby Fulham would owe the Blues £4 million if Broja failed to start 60 percent of the remaining games, according to the Daily Mail

At the time the total number of games stood at 16, meaning that as a result of his omission against Spurs it’s now impossible for the Albania forward to reach that figure.

Chelsea owed £4m by Fulham

The £4m fee will come in handy for the beleaguered Londoners as they struggle to keep up with FFP and Profit and Sustainability rules but the botched loan may have a negative effect in the long term.

The Todd Boehly-led outfit need to offload £100m worth of players before the end of June in order to avoid falling foul of financial fair play regulations.

Broja, 22, is among those players available for transfer with Chelsea quoting Fulham £50m for a permanent move in January.

That’s not as fee Fulham were willing to pay for a player being brought in to cover for Raul Jimenez up front and the form of Rodrigo Muniz in the months since has ensured the Mexican has not been missed.

Brazilian Muniz is in the form of his life, with six goals in his last seven Premier League games, including one against Spurs.

Broja value dropping by the day

His fine displays have meant that Broja has no pathway to first-team football with the Cottagers and that could damage Chelse in the long run.

Teams are unlikely to meet his valuation considering he has been unable to get into a modest Fulham outfit and his value might well be decreasing by the day.

The former Southampton striker has only appeared four times from the bench for Fulham, totalling around 45 minutes of action, and hasn’t yet scored.
