Chelsea have reportedly been informed that Aston Villa are eager to sign Axel Disasi on a permanent deal once his loan spell ends this summer.

Disasi, 26, joined Unai Emery’s side on loan until the end of the season in January and he has enjoyed a successful start to his stint at Villa Park.

The Frenchman was unable to work his way into Enzo Maresca’s preferred starting XI at Chelsea during the first half of the campaign, but he has immediately established himself as a key player at Aston Villa, and the club are already hoping to make the deal permanent in July.

That is according to Foot Mercato, who claim that Disasi’s form is also being monitored by several other Premier League clubs.

Disasi has played 90 minutes in every league match since his arrival at Villa, except their win over Chelsea due to being ineligible, while he started at right-back during their Champions League round of 16 first-leg clash against Club Brugge last week.

Despite his form at Villa, Disasi is unlikely to work his way back into the first-team fold at Chelsea, and the Blues will be delighted by news that a permanent sale could be on the cards this summer.

Chelsea are hoping to sign a new centre forward ahead of the new campaign and selling Disasi will help them fund a move for priority target Liam Delap.

Unai Emery on Axel Disasi

When asked about Disasi following his Man of the Match performance against Brentford on Saturday, Unai Emery told reporters: “Yes, he’s adapting with us. When I spoke with him before he added us in the transfer window, I spoke with the position we needed to try to occupy with him, playing as a centre-back, playing sometimes as a four or three building up on the right side.

“He played before in other teams in this position and he accepted the challenge. Of course, when he played against Liverpool as a centre-back he played good.

“When he played as a right full-back at Palace and Brugge he was progressively getting better to try and get confidence. Today I think he went one step forward more, playing and succeeding better.”
