Chelsea handed transfer boost as Liverpool plan €300m spending spree

Liverpool are reportedly set to spend €300 million on three superstars this summer, with Chelsea set to retain Levi Colwill as a result.

The England international has been a long-term target for the Reds and they have recently been tipped to pursue a move during the 2025 summer transfer window amid questions over Virgil van Dijk’s future at Anfield.

However, Chelsea are determined to keep Colwill as they look to build a team capable of challenging for major honours, and Liverpool have seemingly turned their attention away from the 22-year-old.

That is according to Fichajes, who claim that Arne Slot’s side are hoping to sign Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni for €75m this summer.

In addition, the Spanish outlet have reported that Liverpool are also hoping to sign Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez for €150m and RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons for €75m as they look to back Slot in the transfer market following an impressive debut campaign at the helm.

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is also being pursued by Liverpool, although the Reds have identified Alvarez as their first choice alternative to the Sweden international, as exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch.

Chelsea transfer boost

With Liverpool set to pursue Bastoni, it may also hand Chelsea a free run at signing Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen this summer.

Both players have been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks, although Chelsea are also interested and Enzo Maresca’s side may pounce following news that Liverpool are targeting Bastoni as a long-term replacement for Van Dijk.

The Blues are expected to sell Axel Disasi this summer in order to fund a move for a new centre-back, while Benoit Badiashile and Renato Veiga may also depart on permanent deals if suitable offers are lodged.
