Chelsea have had 10 managers since Carlo Ancelotti in 2011 and ALL of them will be out of work this summer! From Jose Mourinho to Andre Villas-Boas, what has happened to the bosses that failed at Stamford Bridge?

This week, Rafa Benitez and Maurizio Sarri joined the ever-growing list of former Chelsea managers to lose their job.

On Tuesday, Celta Vigo announced that they have parted ways with Benitez after less than a season in charge while Sarri opted to step down from his Lazio role.

As a result, it now means that Chelsea’s last 10 permanent managers will end up without a job come the summer.

The likes of Thomas Tuchel, Jose Mourinho and Andre Villas-Boas all fall into the same category as Benitez and Sarri.

So, here, Mail Sport takes a look at how fortunes have fared for Chelsea’s most recent managers.

Andre Villas-Boas

The man who succeeded Ancelotti in the Stamford Bridge dugout.

There had been high hopes for Andres Villas-Boas upon his arrival in west London however, just eight months later, he was given his marching orders.

Since then, the Portuguese coach has had stints with London rivals Tottenham, Zenit St Petersburg, Shanghai SIPG and Marseille.

The 46-year-old also had a brief career in motorsport after making his maiden appearance in the World Rally Championship back in 2021.

Roberto Di Matteo

Chelsea fans will have fond memories of Roberto Di Matteo, given he won them their first Champions League title back in 2012.

However, since his dismissal in 2013, the Italian has seldom been in football management.

He had a brief spells with German side Schalke and Premier League side Aston Villa but stepped away from management after that.

He was recently appointed as a technical advisor to the South Korean football club Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors

Rafa Benitez

On Tuesday, Celta Vigo announced that they have parted ways with their manager Rafa Benitez after less than a season in charge.

The embattled Spaniard, who joined the LaLiga club in July 2023, had refused to quit his role as the Celta boss, following a poor run of form.

The 63-year-old had been out of work for over a year after he was let go by Everton in 2022 but stepped back into management to take charge of 33 games at Celta Vigo.

He would go on to see his side lose 14 league matches with Celta slumping to 17th in the Spanish top flight – two points clear of the relegation zone.

Jose Mourinho

Though he may be revered as one of Chelsea’s best ever coaches, Jose Mourinho has struggled to emulate the success which he once found in west London.

After leaving the Blues in 2015 – for the second time – he had spells at Manchester United, Tottenham and, most recently, Roma.

Though his departure from the Serie A side may have frustrated him at the time, it appears the the Portuguese boss has gotten over the dismissal.

In-fact, the 61-year-old has been taking time away from football by appearing ringside for Anthony Joshua‘s recent heavyweight defeat over Francis Ngannou and appeared at the Formula One Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.

Guus Hiddink

After a five-month spell at Stamford Bridge – from December 2015 to May 2016 – Guus Hiddink took on some of football’s more obscure management roles.

For one year, he took on the role as head coach for China’s U21-U23 sides before eventually leaving and taking on the role of Curaçao national team boss.

However, after failing to ensure World Cup qualification for the side and contracting COVID, Hiddink stepped away from the role.

Antonio Conte

Since departing west London, Antonio Conte has endured a topsy-turvy time in football management.

The Italian immediately went to Inter Milan where he guided the team to the 2020-21 Scudetto before leaving the club via mutual consent shortly after.

He then journeyed back to London to take charge of Tottenham but, after one successful season, departed after falling out with club chiefs and is yet to return to management.

Maurizio Sarri

Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri resigned from his role at Lazio on Tuesday, after his side suffered a fourth straight defeat in all competitions to Udinese.

Lazio were beaten 2-1 in their Serie A clash on Monday, their 12th defeat from 28 games, leaving the team ninth in the table.

Sarri joined Lazio in 2021 and had a win percentage of 47.45 per cent after winning 65 matches, drawing 30 and losing 42 of his 137 games in charge.

His previous job was at Juventus, where he lasted just one season in 2019-20, despite winning Serie A that season while working with stars like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Frank Lampard

Chelsea fans won’t need reminding of Frank Lampard’s disastrous reign as Chelsea manager from July 2019 – January 2021.

After getting dismissed from his role, Lampard took charge at Everton but, similarly, struggled to get things ticking at Goodison Park and left shortly afterwards.

He returned to Chelsea for a brief spell as interim boss however, following that stint, has failed to land another job in football management.

Thomas Tuchel

Despite winning the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, following Todd Boehly’s arrival at the club, Thomas Tuchel was sacked in September 2022.

After a brief spell out of management, he took up the role as first-team coach at German giants Bayern Munich but has struggled to produce results.

In-fact, Tuchel has mutually agreed to leave the club at the end of the season, with Bayern chiefs unhappy that they look set to end the campaign trophyless.

Graham Potter

The final full-time coach that departed Chelsea was Graham Potter – who was only dismissed in April after five months in charge.

Potter is yet to take up another management role but has been linked with a number of different clubs.

Soon-to-be Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth has been one of the club chiefs to meet with Potter, according to a new report.
