Chelsea are reportedly in pole position to land the signature of Ajax defender Jorrel Hato this month.
The Blues have already agreed personal terms with the Netherlands star and talks are now advanced with Ajax for his services.
The Dutchman has been out of training over the past few days and it is only a matter of time before he links up with the Blues.
A deal worth 40 million euros could be finalised in the next 24 hours. Hato could travel for his medical as soon as that happens.
The 19-year-old was previously on the radar of London rivals Arsenal this summer, but they chose to land Cristhian Mosquera.
Hato is a central defender by trade but played as a left-back last season. He could be rotated between both positions next season.
Chelsea recently stunned Paris Saint-Germain to win the Club World Cup and they could be dark horses for the Premier League title next term.
