Chelsea are ‘leading the race’ to sign Patrick Dorgu, according to a sensational report.

The Danish dynamite has been making headlines in Serie A over the past 12 months. He joined Lecce in the summer of 2023 and has gone from strength to strength.

Dorgu is now a fully-fledged Denmark international and becoming an increasingly key player for his club side. Having started out as a left-back, he now primarily plays on the right wing and is improving his offensive output bit by bit.

The 20-year-old has netted three times in his past six outings as a right winger and he scored the crucial winner on Monday as Lecce beat Venezia in a relegation scrap.

A boyhood Chelsea fans, the Blues were interested in signing him in the summer but were ultimately put off by his €35 million price tag. Now, a sensational report claims that the west London giants are leading the race for his signature despite the fact that his price has almost doubled.

Chelsea favourites for Dorgu

CaughtOffside claims that Chelsea are in pole position for the Dane even though Lecce are now demanding €60m after he penned a contract until 2029 last month.

Earlier this week, it was asserted that the Serie A outfit still valued him at €35m-€40m, but this fresh report speaks of a much higher asking price. It begs the question, then, why Chelsea are suddenly in charge of the situation if they already had concerns about his lower price in the summer.

Either way, it seems that this situation won’t develop much further. Despite his Chelsea allegiance, the outlet claims that Dorgu has been advised to remain in Serie A for the time being by his entourage.

AC Milan, Napoli and now Juventus are all credited with an interest, though it seems nigh on impossible for any of these sides to shell out €60m on the 20-year-old.
