Chelsea have reportedly established contact with RB Leipzig over a possible deal for Xavi Simons.
The Blues have already strengthened their wide attacking department with the signings of Estevao Willian amd Jamie Gittens this summer.
They are eyeing another wide player, and journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that talks are underway with Leipzig for the services of Simons.
Simons has the ability to play on either wing or in the number 10 role, and the Blues could make a formal bid after a couple of player departures.
Leipzig want at least €70 million on the table for the versatile Dutchman, but the Blues hope to negotiate a lesser fee for the former Paris Saint-Germain ace.
Chelsea are also in the transfer market for another striker, but that could depend on Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku heading for the exit door.
Jackson has been linked with Manchester United in recent days while Nkunku has re-emerged as a strong target for Bayern Munich this month.
