Chelsea are set to pocket a handsome profit when they sell defender Renato Veiga this summer.

There is a lot of optimism surrounding the Blues right now after qualifying for the Champions League, winning the Conference League and then triumphing in the inaugural edition of FIFA’s revamped Club World Cup.

Chelsea are currently enjoying their most successful spell of the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital era, with the club’s new transfer policy finally paying off.

Not only have Chelsea built a team that is showing signs of being able to go toe-to-toe with Europe’s best, but they are also doing increasingly good business in the market.

To be sure, reaching this point hasn’t been straightforward, and the means employed by the club to get there recently saw them hit with a severe punishment for breaching UEFA’s spending rules. Nevertheless, Chelsea supporters can be excited about the upcoming season.

Chelsea set for hefty Veiga profit

To avoid any complications next season, Chelsea will have to end this summer window with a positive balance. Winning the Club World Cup has given them a healthy cushion of over €100 million, while the sale of Noni Madueke to Arsenal has generated another €60m.

There are still more players that the club are looking to offload, with defender Renato Veiga the latest name under the microscope. Transfer insiders Fabrizio Romano and Florian Plettenberg have both confirmed that the Portugal international is set to leave Stamford Bridge.

Veiga only arrived from Basel for just €14m last summer, but his time at Chelsea is already over. After spending the second half of last season on loan at Juventus, the Blues are aiming for a permanent sale.

Chelsea are planning to receive around €35m-€40m from his departure, with Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Premier League sides interested. This would represent a sizeable profit of €21m-€26m.

So far this summer, Chelsea have made a profit on every single one of their sales with the exception of Kepa Arrizabalaga. Veiga’s exit would continue this trend and aid them in their bid to balance the books ahead of the new campaign.
