Chelsea reportedly have no plans to send Jamie Gittens out on loan during the January transfer window, despite his underwhelming start to the 2025-26 season.
The 21-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge from Borussia Dortmund for an initial transfer fee of €56 million in July, but he has failed to establish himself as a guaranteed starter under Enzo Maresca this term.
Gittens is yet to register a goal contribution for the Blues, while he has only played 259 minutes from a possible 900 so far this campaign.
However, Chelsea believe in his talent and there is no indication that he will be loaned out in order to develop as a player, as confirmed by The Daily Mail’s Chelsea correspondent Kieran Gill.
He told Football Insider: “I don’t think there’s any chance that Gittens gets loaned away in January. He’s only just joined, he’s 21, he’s new to the Premier League, and Chelsea want him and [Alejandro] Garnacho competing on the left wing.”
Gittens scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 49 appearances for Dortmund last season, and he was also wanted by Arsenal before Chelsea finalised a deal to acquire his signature.
Tyrique George to depart
Although Gittens is reportedly expected to remain at Chelsea in January, his England U21 team-mate Tyrique George is likely to depart Stamford Bridge after his proposed move to Fulham fell through on Transfer Deadline Day.
The Cobham academy graduate has made five first-team appearances for Chelsea so far this campaign, but a mid-season exit is on the cards, as per Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol.
He posted on X: “Tyrique George is likely to leave in January. Multiple Champions League and Europa League clubs wanted to sign him in the summer and he came very close to joining Fulham on Deadline Day.
“George is viewed predominantly as a winger and Chelsea already have Pedro Neto, Estevao Willian, Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho. Geovany Quenda is also moving from Sporting Lisbon next summer.”
