Chelsea could lower their asking price for Nicolas Jackson this summer on one condition in a move that may end up disappointing interested teams such as Manchester United and Newcastle.

Jackson has emerged as a coveted option for many clubs looking for a striker due to Chelsea having signed a number of forwards this summer that could diminish his game time.

Chelsea have insisted that they are not actively looking to sell Jackson, although he is not considered untouchable and the Blues have placed a price tag of around £80 million (€92m) on the 24-year-old.

Newcastle are believed to see Jackson as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak but they only value the Senegalese international at around £65m (€75m), while Man Utd are not expected to be able to afford the Chelsea man despite holding an interest in him.

However, The Telegraph have suggested that Chelsea may consider slashing the asking price for Jackson to ‘north of £60m’ (€70m) if Juventus formalise their interest in the striker in order to avoid selling him to another Premier League club.

Juventus are credited as potential candidates for Jackson’s signature if they can first sell Dusan Vlahovic, although that task is proving to be easier said than done for the Italian side this summer.

Jackson set to be big figure in striker merry-go-round

Jackson’s potential availability has made him an in-demand target this summer, although many interested teams see him as a backup option as opposed to a priority.

The likes of Benjamin Sesko, Ollie Watkins and Isak are likely to be major figures in a striker merry-go-round in the coming weeks, at which point Jackson’s name could come into play if one of those players makes their move.

Sesko is in talks with Newcastle, with the Magpies anticipating a record bid for Isak this week that could trigger a move for Jackson or progress their current interest in Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.

United are also interested in Sesko as well as Watkins and Jackson, while Juve’s desperation to sell Vlahovic could eventually lead to the Serbian being moved on if he agrees to lower his salary demands, which would then give the Serie A giants momentum in the market.
