Chelsea ready to cut their losses as Real Madrid launch big-money move

Real Madrid have Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez on their radar, with the Blues having already named their price for the World Cup-winning midfielder should he leave in the summer.

Along with Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton and PSG ace Joao Neves, Enzo is one of three players the Bernabeu side have in mind to replace Eduardo Camavinga.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed that Camavinga is being eyed by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as a long-term solution at the Etihad Stadium, and Real Madrid are already preparing for his exit in a deal that will have consequences for Chelsea.

Los Blancos were one of the clubs interested in signing Enzo Fernandez when he departed Benfica for Chelsea for a Premier League record €121 million in January 2023. Now president Florentino Perez is ready to revisit a player who is considered a “long-standing dream” for the club, according to Fichajes.

Enzo may have a contract with Chelsea until 2032, but the Blues are now willing to sell, according to the Spanish report.

A price tag of €80 million has been placed on the head of the 24-year-old.

Chelsea’s figure appears to be fair. Enzo has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €74.2m, which is very much in the ballpark they are asking for.

Like Camavinga, he is capable of playing a multitude of different roles and this season he has shone as one of the top-performing central midfielders in the Premier League, according to analysis from SciSports.

After a difficult start to the season, the worth of the Argentine has clearly risen in the eyes of Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who caused a sensation by leaving him out of his team early in the campaign.

“Since we started, he has improved a lot. At first it was a bit difficult for him to understand, but not just Enzo, but all the players, the idea that we wanted,” the Italian told ESPN Argentina back in January.

“Now he is doing very well and he is understanding much better compared to the beginning of the season. He is playing a very important role, we use him in several positions and he does his job in all of them.”
