Chelsea want Aghehowa again?

Chelsea could be prepared to spend £87 million to sign Spanish striker Samu Aghehowa from Porto, according to Fichajes.net.

The west London giants were keen on landing Aghehowa from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024, but a deal did not materialise.

The Blues failed to agree on personal terms with the Spaniard for a deal worth £34.5m and he ended up signing for Porto instead.

The striker netted 27 goals in his debut campaign for Porto and he has added another eight goals to his tally during the ongoing season.

It is now reported that the Blues have revived their interest in the 21-year-old and they could be prepared to trigger his £87 million release clause.

Still, it appears unlikely that a mid-season deal could be finalised.

The striker could resist the prospect of switching clubs in January, particularly with the World Cup coming up over the summer.

Aghehowa has made his way back into the Spanish squad and may not want to lose his berth with his failure to quickly adapt at a new club.
