Chelsea will not sign a new goalkeeper in 2025 despite Robert Sanchez‘s spotty form, according to a report.
The Blues are enjoying a brilliant first season under Enzo Maresca but the goalkeeper position is one that still causes consternation in the fan base, with many supporters struggling to agree with the head coach’s decisions.
Maresca’s first-choice option for Premier League matches is Robert Sanchez, with promising summer signing Filip Jorgensen deputising in other competitions such as the cups and the Conference League.

Sanchez, in his sophomore season at Stamford Bridge, has not cut the most convincing figure since his arrival from Brighton last year. He lost his place to Djordje Petrovic – now on loan at Strasbourg – under Mauricio Pochettino last season and has made several mistakes this term.
Jorgensen, meanwhile, has been brilliant when given opportunities to play, which has led to fans calling for him to assume the No.1 role. However, Maresca continues to keep the faith in the Spaniard.
Chelsea make goalkeeper decision
Ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Brentford, the head coach was again quizzed about his options between the sticks and made it clear that “the idea is not to change” despite Jorgensen’s encouraging form.
And according to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are also not in the market for another goalkeeper. The Blues insist that they are happy with Sanchez and Jorgensen as their main options, while they are also looking forward to the arrival of Mike Penders.

The teenager was signed from KRC Genk for a whopping €20 million in the summer – having barely played at the senior level – and will remain with the Belgian club for the remainder of the season.
Unfortunately for Chelsea, things haven’t quite gone to plan for Penders. After starting the season in goal for the first team, the 19-year-old was relegated to the second-tier reserve side where he has been unable to prevent Jong Genk from haemorrhaging goals.
Unless manager Thorsten Fink changes things up in the second half of the season, Penders will arrive at Chelsea with just four senior appearances under his belt.
