Chelsea are seeking to sell several players in the summer transfer window and have taken the first steps to clearing out their squad with a €33 million (£28m) deal.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Lewis Hall will depart the Stamford Bridge club to Newcastle on a permanent basis after a clause in his loan deal was triggered by the Magpies’ league position.
This is the first of many deals that Chelsea are hoping to push through early this summer in a bid to land Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. With PSG stepping up their chase for the prolific forward, it is essential that they can do business quickly, particularly after their latest financial report painted a bleak picture of the club’s finances.
Chelsea’s deal for Hall is an excellent one for the club.

Chelsea get good value for Hall
While the focus of the Blues’ transfer business in recent times has often been surrounding the huge fees they have paid for young players, the fact that they have also struggled to get value for money for the players they have sold has flown a little under the radar.
In the case of Hall, though, it is Chelsea who are getting the better end of the deal – and clearly so.
The 19-year-old has struggled to make an impression at Newcastle this season, despite going to St James’ Park as a highly regarded player. He has made only 16 appearances across all competitions and has played only 500 minutes of competitive action, returning one assist in the process.

FootballTransfers’ algorithm gives Hall and Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of just €7.9m – less than 25% of what Newcastle have paid for the player.
Even at his peak ETV, Hall was worth just €15.6m.
Data analytic experts SciSports believe Hall will struggle to make a long-term impression at Newcastle, with the Chelsea academy product estimated to have the potential to be a rotation player with the Magpies and no more.
