Chelsea are reportedly preparing a double swoop for both Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen as Mauricio Pochettino looks to improve his misfiring forward line.

With the former Spurs boss occupying his place in the dugout Chelsea once again spent big under Todd Boehly, bringing in nine new arrivals this summer.

With former club-record signing Romelu Lukaku again allowed to leave on loan despite a strong season in Serie A the Blues brought in the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku to lead the line this season.

However, with Jackson having scored just once in his first six Premier League appearances and Nkunku yet to make his Blues debut due to injury, the club are reportedly prepared to look for forward offensive reinforcements during the January window.

According to a report from The Guardian, both Toney and Osimhen have been named on Pochettino’s wish list, with the manager insistent on playing a larger role in transfer policy during his second transfer window at the club.

‘The good thing is the relationship and communication is very good with the sporting directors and owners,’ Pochettino said.

‘When the transfer window was closed I said I need to be more involved now in all the decisions. I have started to work to identify what we need for January.’

After an inspired season at Napoli where he netted 26 times in Serie A as the club secured its first Scudetto in more than three decades, Osimhen’s future at Napoli appears increasingly tenuous.

The club released, and then deleted, a pair of controversial TikTok videos appearing to mock the striker after he missed a penalty in the club’s 0-0 draw with Bologna.

Osimhen also has just 18 months remaining on his current deal at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona and given the recents is unlikely to extend his deal making a departure appear evermore likely for the 24-year-old.

Meanwhile the future of Brentford striker Ivan Toney remains the subject of significant speculation.

The 27-year-old hasn’t played since May and is currently under suspension for breaches of the FA’s betting regulations.

However, the eight-month ban is set to come to an end in January, and Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the player who previously stated he would like to play for a ‘big club’ in his career.
