Chalobah makes England squad after Guehi injury

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has earned a surprise call-up to the England national side following an injury to Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

Guehi has been a mainstay in the Three Lions set-up for the past few years, but won’t be involved in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers due to injury.

In his absence, head coach Thomas Tuchel has called up Chalobah, who has been a regular part of Chelsea‘s starting plans in the Premier League.

Chalobah has contributed to the Blues’ six clean sheets in the top-flight this season, but his form has been inconsistent. He has been sent off once.

Hence, the call-up is somewhat a surprise, but Chalobah will be aiming to impress the manager to boost his chances of making the World Cup.

Alongside Chalobah, Blues captain Reece James has already made the cut into England’s squad. Both are anticipated to start at least one game.
