Chelsea striker Marc Guiu has joined newly-promoted Sunderland on a season-long loan agreement.
The Spaniard signed for the Blues from Barcelona last summer, but he barely played for the club in the Premier League last term.
Most of his playing time came in the Cup competitions and he was mostly on the sidelines due to injury during the final months.
Guiu has now joined the Black Cats on a temporary basis for the season.
Sunderland will cover his salary throughout the loan spell, but they won’t have any option to purchase him from the Blues.
Chelsea consider Guiu as a long-term prospect and they will be hoping that he can make a significant impact at Sunderland.
In that way, they could reintegrate him into manager Enzo Maresca‘s plans or consider his sale for a significant transfer fee.
The young striker was bought for just £5m, and the Blues could secure a big profit if he were to succeed at the Wearside outfit.
