Chelsea could bring as many as four players in from BlueCo sister club Strasbourg this month, according to reports.
BlueCo’s ownership of Strasbourg has been hugely unpopular with the most vocal sections of the Ligue 1 side’s fanbase, but the relationship at the executive level has been cordial and cooperative.
That somewhat changed recently with the appointment of Liam Rosenior as new Chelsea head coach. Strasbourg president Marc Keller, who has had to bear the brunt of the supporters’ vitriol, admitted afterwards that the situation wasn’t ideal and that he fought to keep the Englishman.
An official statement from Strasbourg’s fan association decried the poaching of Rosenior as “humiliating” and further proof that their club had become “subservient” to Chelsea. However, tensions could yet rise further this month.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are mulling over bringing in three Strasbourg players before the end of the window. For one, the report claims that Emmanuel Emegha‘s summer move could be brought forward to aid the West London club’s attacking output.
Chelsea consider Strasbourg recalls
It is also asserted that defender Ismael Doukoure has become interesting to Chelsea. The Blues have already signed Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg and loaned him back, and it is now stated that they could also acquire his defensive partner.
Additionally, Chelsea are also considering recalling goalkeeper Mike Penders from his loan to Alsace. Rosenior is said to be unconvinced by Robert Sanchez, and with Filip Jorgensen pushing to leave Chelsea, it is claimed that the young Belgian could be recalled.
That’s not all, however. Ben Jacobs reports that Kendry Paez‘s future is also one to watch in the final days of the window. The Ecuador wonderkid could be recalled as well, as he has failed to make his mark in France.
Strasbourg recently completed the signing of Dunkerque youngster Gessime Yassine, who is expected to take Paez’s place in the squad. The Chelsea loanee could therefore return to Stamford Bridge and join a different club in the Premier League or the Championship.
