Chelsea target Mike Maignan has officially signed his new AC Milan contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The France international has put speculation over his future to bed by agreeing fresh terms with the Rossoneri. For months, Maignan was expected to depart AC Milan as a free agent in the summer, but he has now committed his long-term future to the club.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that Maignan has put pen to paper on a new deal that will tie him to the San Siro club until 2030, with the option for a further season.

It comes off the back of several standout performances from the 30-year-old. Maignan has bounced back from a disappointing 2024/25 season in emphatic fashion and convinced Milan to give him a substantial pay increase.

The appointment of Massimiliano Allegri in the summer has changed the mood at the club, and the Rossoneri are on course to return to the Champions League. They are currently second in Serie A, five points behind city rivals Inter.

Maignan snubs Chelsea for good

Maignan’s extension means that no move to Chelsea or any other club is forthcoming for the foreseeable future. The Blues have continually been linked with the Frenchman since trying to sign him last June.

Chelsea wanted to bring Maignan in ahead of the Club World Cup as they felt he would be a superb market opportunity due to his contract situation. However, Milan refused to play ball.

The Italian giants demanded €30 million for the shot-stopper, which was more than double Chelsea’s valuation. After having two bids rejected, the Stamford Bridge outfit left the talks.

Chelsea insist that they are happy with their goalkeeper options and looking forward to the summer return of Mike Penders from his successful loan at Strasbourg, but there is no denying that a prime Maignan would be a significant upgrade on Robert Sanchez and company.
