Chelsea are aiming to fight off interest in Estevao by giving him a bumper new contract to reflect his importance to Liam Rosenior’s first team.

The 18-year-old has been a revelation for the Blues since joining the club for €45 million last summer, having scored seven times in all competitions and playing 19 times in the Premier League.

Only injuries have prevented Estevao from featuring more but the teenager was still named the Young Player of the Year at the London Football Awards this week after an impressive start to life in the capital.

The Brazilian beat out competition from the likes of Adam Wharton and Michael Kayode for the honour and he posted on social media afterwards that ‘this is the beginning of a very long journey’ with Chelsea.

That will be music to the ears of the West London side, who, according to AS, see Estevao as a ‘commercial goldmine’ that has generated excitement not seen at the club since the days of Eden Hazard.

The Spanish outlet go on to claim that a new contract will be in line ‘sooner rather than later’, most likely after the 2026 World Cup, where Estevao is expected to feature heavily for Brazil.

Igor Thiago: I would love to play alongside Estevao

Estevao has already become a key figure for Chelsea and the forward is the youngest player in the club’s history to score and assist in both the Premier League and Champions League.

Naturally, Estevao’s rise has garnered interest from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, while Manchester City were also linked with a €120m move for the youngster.

It is not just rival clubs taking interest in Estevao but also star players from afar, with Brentford’s Igor Thiago admitting he would love to play alongside his Brazilian compatriot one day.

When asked by CB Mili about which Brazilian he wants to play with, Thiago said: “I think Estevao. We played together in Cruzeiro, I saw him a few times when I was there. He has some real quality, and he’s a good guy. I look forward to it.”

Thiago – who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge – is hoping to also be named in Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad after scoring 18 goals in the Premier League for Brentford this season.
