Chelsea could be set to earn a small fortune if Nottingham Forest launch a renewed bid for Ipswich Town winger Omari Hutchinson.
The 21-year-old, who starred during England’s triumph at the U21 European Championship in July, has been heavily linked with a summer transfer following Ipswich’s relegation from the Premier League and Nottingham Forest are the latest club to express their interest.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have seen a €40 million (£35m) offer turned down by Ipswich, as per David Ornstein, and they will be forced to increase their outlay if they want to land Hutchinson before the end of the summer transfer window.
The former Chelsea winger, who joined the Blues from Arsenal’s academy in 2022, has also been linked with a move to Brentford, with Keith Andrews’ side viewing him as a suitable replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, who has joined Manchester United.
Hutchinson only scored three goals and provided two assists in 32 appearances across all competitions last season, but he was a shining light for Ipswich, and Nottingham Forest view him as a credible candidate to bolster their attacking roster as they prepare for their first campaign in Europe since 1995-96.
Omari Hutchinson to earn Chelsea millions
If Hutchinson is able to secure an Ipswich exit, Chelsea will receive a major transfer windfall thanks to the 25% sell-on clause they included in his permanent move to Kieran McKenna’s side last summer.
With Ipswich demanding a fee in excess of €40m to sanction a sale, the Blues are therefore in line to receive over €10m if Hutchinson leaves Portman Road this summer.
The west London giants have already earned €209m through player sales so far this summer, while they are eager to finalise the permanent departures of Axel Disasi, Ben Chilwell, Renato Veiga, Carney Chukwuemeka, Raheem Sterling and several others in order to fund moves for Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho.
