All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Robinio Vaz, Shumaira Mheuka and James McAtee.
Marseille ready to sell Vaz
Marseille are surprisingly open to January offers for teenage striker Robinio Vaz, who was the subject of strong links with Chelsea last month. It was claimed that exploratory talks over a move had been held.
Vaz has primarily been used as a super-sub by Roberto de Zerbi this season, and the 18-year-old enjoyed a very good start to the season. However, his goals have dried up recently.
Marseille will engage with offers if a suitable fee is put on the table, with this stance likely informed by the fact that the club have made a loss every season for the past decade.
Mheuka open to Chelsea loan exit
Prolific Chelsea youngster Shumaira Mheuka is ready to leave the club on loan in the January window in order to get senior minutes under his belt in the second half of the season.
The 18-year-old has been in outrageous goalscoring form at the youth level this season, but he has been restricted to just one appearance under Enzo Maresca.
As a result, he is looking for a January loan, and Chelsea are not opposed to granting the teenager his wish should a suitable project present itself in the upcoming window.
Strasbourg want McAtee, not Chelsea
Chelsea were recently linked with a move for Nottingham Forest midfielder James McAtee, who knows Blues boss Enzo Maresca from his time at Man City.
The 23-year-old has struggled for minutes after joining in the summer, and a January exit appears to be on the cards. However, it is not Chelsea but BlueCo sister club Strasbourg who are actively trying to sign him.
The French outfit have already held exploratory talks with McAtee’s camp over a loan move, but they are far from the only side with a keen interest in the former England U21 captain.
Chelsea need three signings
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has urged Chelsea to strengthen in three key positions if they want to get back to challenging for the Premier League title.
Shearer believes that Chelsea need a reliable centre-forward, an upgrade on Robert Sanchez in the goalkeeper department and at least one more elite centre-back.
Whether Chelsea will heed his advice in January remains to be seen. As things stand, the Blues are not expected to be particularly busy, nor are they willing to abandon their strategy of primarily signing young players.
