Naturally, given Villa’s struggles, Rogers’ impact has been limited so far this term, which is a far cry from last season when the 23-year-old was nothing short of sensational.

He attracted significant interest over the summer, but Villa made it clear to his suitors that he wasn’t for sale, even in the face of their struggles to comply with Profitability and Sustainability Rules and Financial Fair Play.

It remains to be seen if they will be able to fend off interest in him again next year, but the early signs look inauspicious. Chelsea are huge admirers of the versatile attacker, and Villa’s struggles are emboldening the Blues.

Chelsea to sign Rogers in 2026?

According to The Sun, suggestions that Villa could hand Rogers a second new contract in less than 12 months to entice him to stay have little substance. There has been next to no progress, and Chelsea are keenly watching developments in Birmingham.
