Chelsea have reportedly entered the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia amid rumours he could leave the Ligue 1 champions this summer.
The Georgia international moved to the Parc des Princes from Napoli for €80 million last January and he played a pivotal role in the Parisians’ first ever Champions League triumph just four months later.
Several Premier League clubs have subsequently been linked with a move for the 25-year-old and Arsenal are among the teams eyeing a potential swoop as Mikel Arteta’s side look to bring a new left winger to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Chelsea have also now joined the race to sign Kvaratskhelia, according to a bombshell report from Spanish publication Fichajes.
The Blues added Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens to their left wing roster last summer, while Geovany Quenda will also arrive at the club from Sporting CP in July after a pre-agreement was reached last year.
Despite this, Chelsea continue to be linked with several left wingers and they have now added Kvarastkhelia to a transfer wishlist that already contains Kenan Yildiz (Juventus) and Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa).
New boss Liam Rosenior is reportedly a huge admirer of the PSG superstar and he is keen to bring him to west London this summer in order to form a formidable attacking unit alongside Cole Palmer, Estevao Willian and Joao Pedro.
Analysis: Would Khvicha Kvarastkhelia be a good signing for Chelsea?
The answer is a definite yes. The aforementioned Garnacho has improved in recent weeks, while Gittens is a raw talent, but Chelsea’s options on the left flank still leave a lot to be desired.
Adding Kvarastkhelia would fix this issue immediately and provide Rosenior with a world-class forward capable of firing Chelsea to major honours next season.
At 25 years old, he still has plenty of time at the top level and he has seven goal contributions in nine Champions League games this season, proving he is more than capable of becoming an integral player for the Blues.
He would be a pricey signing, with an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) just shy of €110m, but Kvarastkhelia is a player worthy of such a fee.
