The full roster (supplied below) includes two debutants and four returnees who sat out the recent 2024 Paris Olympics. The DFB-Frauen face England and Australia in a pair of friendlies.
VfL Wolfsburg starlet Vivien Endemann is headed back to the German women’s national football team following late withdraws from Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Laura Freigang and FC Bayern München striker Lea Schüller. Newly appointed Bundestrainer Christian Wück’s very first roster contains two debutants and four returnees that sat out the Paris Olympics.
RB Leipzig forward Giovanna Hofmann and Eintracht Frankfurt defender Lisanne Gräwe have been called up for the first time. The 26-year-old Hoffmann is off to a fine start this season for her club, having scored three goals and registered three assists through six appearances in the GooglePixel Frauen-Bundesliga.
The elder Hoffmann hasn’t featured for the German women internationally since featuring for the U17s in the 2017. The 21-year-old Gräwe, on the other hand, makes the direct leap from the U20s after working her way up consistently through the youth ranks since 2016. Gräwe nevertheless won’t be working the thin defensive corps as Wück considers her more of a six.
Linda Dallmann (Bayern), Selina Cerci (Hoffenheim), Sophia Kleinherne (Frankfurt), and Sara Däbritz (Olympique Lyon) are the four returnees. Wück has praised Hoffmann as the “perfect fit for the team’s profile at center-forward”. The long-time SC Freiburg professional herself has called the nomination “an honor after a long road strewn with obstacles”.
Somewhat surprisingly, Hoffmann’s Leipzig teammate Vanessa Fudalla has been left behind. The 22-year-old has been on absolute fire this season, scoring five league goals and pocketing five assists. Fuldalla will head to the newly-formed German Women’s U23 squad for now. The newly founded level seeks to aid development among German female footballers.
