BK Hacken‘s director of football has admitted that a January move for Arsenal target Silas Andersen is a possibility.

The Danish midfielder has caught the eye of the Gunners due to his performances in Sweden in recent months. Andersen joined Hacken in January and quickly established himself as a hugely important player.

Last week, it was revealed that Arsenal would send scouts to Hacken’s Conference League clash with Chelsea’s sister club RC Strasbourg. Andersen played the full 90 minutes as his side succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to the Ligue 1 outfit.

The Swedish press quickly confronted the 21-year-old with the news of Arsenal’s supposed interest, and the youngster made no secret of his desire to eventually play in England. “The Premier League is the Premier League. It would be great to come,” he said.

After the game, he added: “[Arsenal] are a big club. I would be happy. There is a lot of interest. Now people have to make a move, but we’ll see. I’m aiming for the highest level possible. That’s my goal. Yes, I feel like I’ve shown what I can do. I think I’m ready, but we’ll see.”

Andersen could move in January

Now, Hacken’s director of football Martin Ericsson has been quizzed about the interest in the Denmark youth international. Although he made sure to emphasise that he wants to keep Andersen, he did admit that a January move could materialise.

“It’s quite reasonable,” Ericsson said of Andersen’s frank comments in an interview with Fotbollskanalen. “He’s a young player who is doing very well and who is of great interest. It would be strange if he were to say much else.

“With that said, I think he’s doing very well. He’s here both mentally and physically and pushes every day in training and in matches. As long as he is, I don’t feel worried at all. Then we’ll see what happens in January.

“It’s clear that our ambition is to keep Silas as long as we can. Then we’ll see what things mean in terms of offers, clubs and how we approach it. We’ll see when a possible sale takes place.

“We’ll see,” Ericsson responded when asked how much he would demand for his sizeable €1 million investment. “Everything has to be right. For us, he’s a very important and high-profile player. So, it’s clear that something extra is needed. Exactly what that means is difficult to assess now.”
