Como consider Fabregas as long-term coach

Serie B side Como have not just appointed Cesc Fabregas as an interim coach but consider him the new long-term boss.

The Spaniard spent the final season of his playing career with the second-tier outfit, providing two assists across 17 appearances. He hung up his boots at the end of last season and moved into management, taking over the Como Primavera squad.

Como unexpectedly decided to dismiss head coach Moreno Longo on Monday, bringing an end to his 14-month spell in charge. In his place, they promoted Fabregas, handing the 2010 World Cup winner his first head coach role.

As reported by Marco Demicheli of Sky Sports Italia, Como do not consider Fabregas to be just a caretaker coach and have decided he’ll lead the project forward for the foreseeable future.

Because he doesn’t have a coaching licence, the former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder will sit on the bench with an exemption and will be assisted by a member of staff who has the licence, like Marco Cassetti.

Como currently sit sixth in the Serie B table with a game in hand. Victory in that would take them third.
