Sergio Conceiçao’s spokesman, Francisco Empis, resigned and admitted that information sent to Italian media contained ‘errors and inaccuracies’ and ‘damaged’ the Milan coach’s reputation.

Empis informed Italian media on Thursday that Conceiçao was unhappy with the players’ attitude and the club’s management, forcing the Portuguese coach to meet with Milan directors to clear the air and clarify his position with a brief statement.

Conceiçao said during a press conference on Friday that Empis had acted out of spite and announced he would take legal action against him.

The coach’s spokesman has now resigned as he confirmed to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“None of the points have been validated by coach Sergio Conceiçao, nor are they binding on him as a professional,” Empis said.

“Due to the mistake made and the damage caused to his reputation, I immediately resign from my position with the coach.

“The published information contains several errors and inaccuracies, particularly regarding the relationships between team members, the coaching staff, and Milan’s management,” he continued.

“They do not reflect the truth of the facts but rather rumours and assumptions without any factual basis.”

Conceiçao is under increasing pressure at Milan, having lost the last three Serie A games.

The Rossoneri are currently outside a European placement in Serie A and are 11 points below fourth-placed Juventus.

The Diavoli visit Lecce in their next Serie A match at the Stadio Via del Mare on Saturday.
