Confirmed: Alvero joins Bremen on loan with purchase option
SV Werder Bremen officially confirmed the arrival of midfielder Skelly Alvero on Wednesday evening.

SV licensing director Clemens Fritz made it clear that the Hanseatic City-State club would consider taking the extremely tall talent on permanently.

Lyon revealed that Werder will pay a base loan-fee of €250,000 for Alvaro’s services. Performance-related bonuses to kick the sum up by another €100,000. The optional purchase clause is also linked to deployments and production numbers. By the end of the season, this figure could rise to as much as €6.25 million.

Alvero server as Werder’s second winter signing. Argentine defender Julian Malian made his debut for the club in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Freiburg, scoring a late goal off the bench in his first action in a white-green tricot. The 2.02-meter-tall (about 6’6″) youngster will officially be the tallest Bundesliga professional in the top flight.

“Our aim was to broaden our squad a little more,” SV licensing director Clemens Fritz noted in a statement accompanying the signing, We’ve achieved that with the loan of Skelly. He is a very interesting player who now has the opportunity to develop further with us. We’ll then sit down together in the summer and see whether we can take up the option to buy.”

“Skelly already has a lot of experience from the second division in France and has also gained his first match experience in Ligue 1,” SV trainer Ole Werner added, “He is a tall and robust player who can play both an offensive and defensive role in midfield.”
